Naples hosted the closing event of the 2022 edition of the Italy–Georgia scientific and technological cooperation program promoted by Fondazione Cotec Italia, with Materias involved in the initiative. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, SSC Napoli football player, also attended.

Materias was selected by SelectUSA among the 8 women-led technology companies worldwide. Caterina Meglio, CEO of Materias, presented the Materias model and the startups Etesias, Sanidrink and AMPure.

The Materias Award was presented to Ohoskin, a startup founded by Adriana Santanocito, for a bio-based material made from orange and prickly pear by-products as a sustainable alternative to animal leather. The award was delivered by Caterina Meglio, CEO of Materias.

During Innovation Village 2022, Valentina Battista, Institutional Relations, Communication & ESG Manager at Materias, introduced the startups Etesias, Sanidrink and AMPure, presented respectively by Flavio Galdi, Program Manager of Etesias, Rosalba Moretta, researcher at Sanidrink, and Bruna Agrillo, researcher at AMPure.

Materias dedicated a new issue of its Quaderni to the role of SMEs in sustainability and the circular economy, featuring a contribution by lawyer Damiano Lipani of Lipani Catricalà & Partners.

The collaboration between Etesias, Enel Green Power and Federico II University continued on the development of optimized foundations for electrical substations. A key operational role was played by Flavio Galdi, architect and Program Manager at Etesias.

Materias took part in London, as guest of Intesa Sanpaolo, in the event focused on family business resilience and sustainability. Valentina Battista, Institutional Relations, Communication & ESG Manager at Materias, attended together with Vincenzo Antonetti, Alberto Mancuso, Flavio Stellini, Michel Bongiorno, Luca Mezzomo and Luca Pietrantoni of Intesa Sanpaolo.

In Riardo, the entry of LGR Holding/Ferrarelle into Sanidrink’s capital was officially presented. Participants included Pres. Luigi Nicolais, Carlo Pontecorvo, Chairman of Ferrarelle Società Benefit, Caterina Meglio, CEO of Materias and newly appointed Chair of Sanidrink, Annunziata Cummaro, Giuseppe Dadà, Francesco Loreto and Carlo Giello, General Manager of LGR Holding and CEO of Sanidrink.

Valentina Battista, Head of Institutional Relations at Materias, attended a meeting in Brussels at the residence of Francesco Genuardi, Italian Ambassador to Belgium, focused on innovation investments.

Pres. Luigi Nicolais spoke as keynote speaker at the seminar “From Research to Business: The Italian Perspective” at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, presenting technology transfer experiences and the Materias model.

AMPure, an innovative startup created by Materias and C4T for anti-acne dermocosmetic formulations based on hyaluronic acid and antimicrobial peptides, was officially established. Pres. Luigi Nicolais, Alessandra Topai, CEO of C4T, Maria Emilia Mercurio, Project Manager at Materias and Board Member of AMPure, and Tatiana Guzzo, Business Development Manager at C4T and Board Member of AMPure, attended the signing.

Materias took part in Tel Aviv, with Fabrizio Errichiello, researcher at Materias, in the final event of the “Accelerate in Israel” program, presenting the eco-friendly technology "perFOAMance."

Materias attended the charity gala dinner organized by the Sbarro Health Research Organization in Vico Equense. Pres. Luigi Nicolais met with Antonio Giordano, President of SHRO, and Giancarlo Arra, Vice President of SHRO, to discuss new healthcare technologies.

Sanidrink received the Claudio Cicatiello Award for an antimicrobial technology applicable to food & beverage and medical devices. Rosalba Moretta, researcher at Sanidrink, Aniello Cammarano, sole director of Sanidrink, and Valentina Battista, Institutional Relations, Communication & ESG Manager at Materias, attended the ceremony.

Caterina Meglio, CEO of Materias, received the award granted to Materias on the occasion of the 130th anniversary of Il Mattino newspaper, highlighting the value of the team and the support of shareholders, including Sergio Dompé, Chairman of Dompé Holdings.

Materias became scientific partner of Terra Next, the accelerator dedicated to the bioeconomy promoted by CDP Venture Capital, Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center and Cariplo Factory.

Materias published Notebook No. 6, authored by Marcello Allegretti, Chief Scientific Officer at Dompé Farmaceutici, focused on the role of Big Data and repurposing in the new pharmaceutical research landscape.
